FIFA extends transitional measures for the transfer of players and registration periods

The Bureau of the FIFA Council extended until the end of April the transitory measures adopted in the face of the pandemic situation to give more flexibility to the transfer of players to national teams and the inscription of these in clubs that play competitions that are still suffering the effects of the health crisis.

“With a view to the next international men's and women's terms and after the good reception by the football community of the transitional measures implemented last year, The Bureau has decided to extend the amendments to the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players regarding the transfer of players to national teams until the end of April 2021, “he announced in a statement.

In it he explained that such amendments apply to all periods of the international calendar men's soccer, women's soccer and futsal until the end of April 2021.

In all international matches played during these international periods, the document must be applied “The return of football: international match protocol” or an analogous protocol of the corresponding confederation that complies with the aforementioned FIFA document.

The provisions regarding the transfer of players to national teams (Annex 1) will normally apply, unless there is a mandatory period of quarantine or self-isolation of at least five days upon arrival in the territory where the club is bound to release the player for the national team or in the territory where the national team match is to be held.

There will also be an exception if there is a travel restriction to or from one of those two territories indicated above and the competent authorities have not granted a specific exemption relating to the aforementioned decisions to the players of a national team.

Regarding registrations and given the diversity of circumstances around the world, the transitory measures and players will be able to enroll in a maximum of three clubs and play official matches for three clubs in the same season.

The federations may request to extend or amend the start and end date of your season at any time.

They may also request to extend or amend your enrollment periods that have already started, as long as their duration does not exceed the maximum limit (i.e. 16 weeks); and request to amend or postpone your enrollment periods that have not started, as long as their duration does not exceed the maximum limit (i.e. 16 weeks).

“FIFA, the confederations and the member associations continue to analyze the global situation and work together to protect health of all the participants in the next international matches, “said the organization.
