The pride of Alcoy

Just a year ago, Alcoyano tied against Recambios Colón and maintained its condition of undefeated leader. Vicente Parras' team was walking through the Third Division. The ascent came in summer and Alcoyano regained its natural site. 365 days after that tie, the moral team has a historic appointment against Madrid. At least, Alcoyano took advantage of the hit of the descent to put the seed of the current project.

The club opted to return to its origins. The premise was clear: recover people from the house and feel the shield. They bet on a good number of players in the area, many of them born in Alcoy and nearby towns. The decision could not have gone better.

This year the proposal has been maintained and the current Alcoyano is the pride of the city. Parras has on his team up to five players born in Alcoy. Juli, Pablo Carbonell, Jorge Moltó, Pablo Morgado and Sergio Mullor they are born in Alcoy. It was 15 years since the moral club had so many players born a few meters from El Collao.

“We set ourselves the objective of recovering people from the house, who identified with the club and knew what it means to wear this badge on their chest. There are people who say that we have opted for this project for an economic issue, but that is not true. We believe in the people of the area“he says proudly Josele Gonzalez, Alcoyano sports director and architect of the current project.

Apart from the five players born in Alcoy, Parras also has six youth players who are in the dynamics of the first team and who have been trained in the lower categories of the club. Above all, the veteran Juli stands out. The attacker, at 39, will experience a special night. The captain and many of his companions are the pride of Alcoy.
