The Polish Football Federation announced on Monday the dismissal of the national coach, Jerzy Brzeczek, who had been in charge of the team since 2018. The dismissal was announced in a short statement, in which the already ex-coach of Polonial is thanked for the task carried out.
Zbigniew Boniek, president of the Polish Football Federation, said that “it is a sad day for me, but I have reflected and act for the benefit of the team.” The decision has been surprising because Brzeczek renewed last November.
Brzeczek became the coach of the Polish team in 2018 after the dismissal of Adam Nawalka as a result of the poor result at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where Poland was eliminated in the group stage.
The 49-year-old coach played in his time as a player for league teams in his country, as well as Israel and Austria. In 2010 he made his debut as a coach at the helm of the Polish team Rakow Czestochowa and then continued with Lechia Gdansk, GKS Katowice and Wisla Plock.
