The Premier League announced this Monday that in the last round of testing there have been 16 new positives, which represents a reduction with respect to the 36 there were last week.
Between Monday, January 11, and Sunday, January 17, 3,115 players and club employees underwent the COVID test, of which 16 were positive.
This reflects a significant reduction from 36 a week ago or the record 40 of two ago.
Despite the increase in cases in recent weeks, with the consequent suspensions of six games in the competition, the Premier League reiterated that a league break has not been planned.
In the United Kingdom there is currently a lockdown like the one in March, due to the rebound in cases and the more than 1,000 deaths a day that occur due to the pandemic.
