Williams' brutal 'chicharro', a reward for Athletic's faith

He did not care if there was Lionel Messi or the entire Barça in front of him. Iñaki Williams only thought about the goal of lifting the Spanish Super Cup, but for this Athletic had to overcome all adversities.

The Basque team did it by rinsing the income of FC Barcelona twice and sending the final to extra time. There, crouched, Nico Williams was waiting to strike the final blow.

The Athletic striker had left his skin during the game, wearing down the culé defense with his speed and going down to defend like another defender. But the striker still had gasoline in reserve to make the Barcelona team desperate.

Williams scored in the 3rd minute in the recent league game against Koeman's team and in the Super Cup it also took three minutes – the first of extra time – to get back to “wet” to the despair of Barça.

The Bilbao player was heeled, cut inwards and with his right hand he overcame Ter Stegen's flight to drive the ball into the squad after touching the post. His target, spectacular where they exist, also served to define a title.

Williams put “the icing on the cake”

“It's the best goal of my career,” Williams was quick to comment at the end of the game. The forward, decisive with his anthological goal, ended up being named MVP of the match.

Williams celebrated the goal in a big way, like all of Athletic, but before being relieved he once again demonstrated his commitment by becoming one more defender to close the doors against Barça.
