Sergio Ramos continues without confirming the agreement for its renewal: “We'll see, we'll see”

The renewal of Sergio Ramos continues to be an issue to be resolved at Real Madrid. On both sides, that of the player and his brother and representative René and that of the club, it seems clear that they want to continue going hand in hand.

However, the player's latest statements on the subject upon his arrival at Seville airport after spending Christmas with his relatives, were not entirely reassuring.

Asked about his renewal by the Chambers of Deportes Cuatro, Sergio Ramos did not secure a possible agreement and limited himself to saying “we'll see, we'll see” which, taking into account the history of negotiations between the captain and the club, does not show great certainties about the deal.

Even so, and with the aim of leading too much to error, Sergio Ramos himself limited himself to saying that “everything is in order” and to wish all Madrid fans a happy year.

Countdown

And it is that despite the fact that both Sergio Ramos and the club do not see the agreement in danger, the fact that the player has just four days left to be free to negotiate with any club worries the fans. Especially after seeing that, in the case of Modric, who also ends his contract in 2021, the negotiations are about to come to fruition with one more year for the Croatian, after a salary reduction.

And that is where the parties for the renewal of Ramos come into conflict, in the duration of the contract and the salary. The player, whose hierarchy within the dressing room is unquestionable, intends to ensure two more years of extension, until 2023, a strategy that Real Madrid does not have the habit of offering to those over 30.

On the other hand, in terms of salary, the truth is that the economic demands derived from the pandemic are the ones that set the tone and, despite the fact that Sergio Ramos understands the club's needs, he does not intend to receive much less than what he currently earns ( 12 million net) since, in recent months it has been but the most important piece of the team, one of the most recognized and productive of the team.
