The jury for this award is made up of leading figures in architecture and design, including several winners of the prestigious Award Pritzker. The criteria used to select sports facilities include their innovation, creativity, reflection of local heritage and energy efficiency. The award is awarded by the organization Prix
Versailles, in association with UNESCO and the International Union of Architectos (UIA), and aims to “promote a better interaction between the economy and culture. It underlines the role that economic agents can play, in all sectors, to beautify and improve our environment ”.
The mayor of Donostia, Eneko
Goia, has been congratulated for the award, as it represents “a recognition and a finishing touch to a difficult but exciting project that has allowed to complete the renovation of a sports facility that is already an icon for the city and for the entire territory.”
