The Real Betis has requested financing from European funds to pay for up to 70 of the construction works of the new sports city, which have a cost of 20.5 million euros – plus VAT – in its first phase, for which the Dos Hermanas Town Hall at the beginning of 2019, for 50 years, more than 50 hectares of land in the area of Intercores, next to the Gran Hipódromo de Andalucía, an area of great urban expansion near the capital of Seville.
Although the work should begin at the end of last year or the beginning of this 2020, different difficulties, including the Covid-19 pandemic, have caused the project to be delayed although the club has not stopped working on it. Real Betis has already made a request for a financing line from the European Union under advantageous conditions, although in no case is it a non-refundable grant, but rather a loan that the club must repay, although under more advantageous conditions than those offered by private banking. The Betic club can request this type of funds thanks to the fact that the work meets a series of sustainability criteria. Once this financing is received, the execution of the work could begin although never before the economic situation, both in football and in society in general, has improved.
The project for the new Real Betis sports city consists of 51 hectares (it would be the largest in Europe), with an area of 509,789 meters. It will have 15 football fields 11 (natural and artificial grass), a multipurpose field, a multipurpose sports building, a mini stadium with 8,000 capacity spectators, three goalkeeper training fields, tennis and paddle tennis courts, an administrative building, a multipurpose building, a residence for the quarry and Betic social club.
