Juve-Napoli: defeat and point of punishment for the azzurri

After having rejected the appeal of Roma, the appeal court of the Italian Football Federation did the same with that of Naples, confirming 0-3 loss and a penalty point for not having presented to the game with Juventus on October 4.

The Azzurri did not travel because, upon detection of positive for coronavirus from Elmas and Zielinski, the ASL, the local health authority, denied his permission to leave the city, something that the club's lawyers tried to prove in the appeal.

The Lega Serie A and the Federation, however, consider that the protocol in force allowed the Azzurri to travel to Turin, evidently leaving those infected in isolation, as had happened many times to several teams in recent months.

According to the court, the behavior in the days before Juve-Napoli show the search, by the Azzurro club, for “an excuse not to play the game“, since” it is difficult to understand why the club asked the health authorities for clarification on a protocol that it has already applied several times. “The court stressed that Napoli were also disrespectful towards the other Serie A clubs, “that in similar or even more complicated situations, they played their matches”.

The legal battle, however, is not over: the Neapolitan entity will also appeal to the court of the Olympic Committee, third and last degree of Italian sports justice.
