Simeone: “It lacked forcefulness, but this is the way to go”

Diego Simeone, Atlético's coach, spoke to the media from Moscow to analyze his team's draw against Lokomotiv, in a match where he deserved a bigger prize. The coach also spoke of the last rojiblanco signing.

There are Herrera, Saúl, Koke … and Kondogbia arrives. What do you expect from him?

His arrival will generate internal competition, more spare parts, more possibilities to play. It will energize the environment and it will be important for everything that comes on the calendar. It creates tougher competition for us. Whoever responds best will have their minutes.

Have you seen the 1-1 penalty?

I didn't see the penalty, but I imagine it was. If the VAR warned and the referee saw it and understood that it was a hand … The hand in the area is a penalty and whoever gets it, it's his turn and you have to take it.

What has been missing to win?

The team played the game we wanted to play, inside, outside, shooting from medium distance. His goalkeeper had a great performance, he made very good saves. We held the attack very well against a team that defends firmly and counterattacks very directly. We control it. The pity is that we did not have forcefulness in the goal based on the game that was made, but it is the way to follow to win the games.

Which players stand out from the rival?

I do not highlight a footballer, but the team did a good defensive job, trying to close the paths. It was a performance and a great effort from everyone.
