Good news in Atlético's afternoon training session. The rojiblanco team returned to work this afternoon with the great news of José María Giménez exercising with his teammates. The Uruguayan central defender has not been able to participate in the first three league matches after contracting the coronavirus, so he had to be isolated at home.
Giménez tested positive in the PCR on September 22, a few days before the start of the competition. But, after missing the matches against the Granada, Huesca and Villarreal, the Uruguayan has tested negative in the latest tests and is now fully recovered. The central was one more in the session directed by Simeone, with physical work and a final game.
In full conditions, Giménez is a key player for Atlético, a leader from the center behind. The charrúa participated in a training session where the internationals were absent (Oblak, Grbic, Felipe, Savic, Lodi, Thomas, Herrera, Carrasco, João Félix, Luis Suárez), but where Simeone has the bulk of his staff, of which Mollejo said goodbye before heading to Getafe. Now, Giménez has two weeks to get in shape physically before the next league match, against Celta on the weekend of October 18.
