Tuttosport has published the list of the 60 players who choose to win the prestigious Golden Boy in 2020, the award that rewards each year the best young person under 21 years of age. It is voted by 30 journalists and usually determines the footballer called to mark an era in the following years (the last winners have been Joao Félix, De Ligt and Mbappé).
Madrid, with its policy of attracting the best young people in the world, dominates this list: it has four representatives among the 60 finalists. They are Vinicius, Rodrygo, Reinier and Kubo. The four have been signed in recent years in that attempt by the white club to find the next world star.
As for Spaniards, there are three representatives: Ferran Torres, Pedri and Ansu Fati. The presence of the Valencian, recently signed by City, is not surprising. In fact, he is one of those who choose to win it. Neither that of Ansu Fati after his irruption this season. But the presence of Pedri is something new. The canary had not been present in the list of 100 or in the list of 80. His great season in Las Palmas, together with Barcelona's intention that he remain in the first team next year, has allowed him to sneak in among the young most promising on the planet.
As far as LaLiga is concerned, there is another player from a Spanish club: Nahuén Pérez (Atlético). The Argentine central defender, on loan to the Portuguese Famalicao, has completed a great season. It is currently difficult to find a place in that position in the Cholo team, but his progression for the future is very promising.
As for the favorites, all the lights point to Borussia Dortmund, since among the 60 finalists are Sancho and Haaland. If they maintain the level they have shown in the last season, the trophy could travel to Germany …
