Su Mirandés, a newly promoted team, not only did he stay in the League, but he also made it to the Cup semifinal – it eliminated Celta, Seville and Villarreal, falling at the hands of the Real Society. This was his first experience in LaLiga, but previously he had directed AEK Larnaca, with whom he won the Cyprus Super Cup.
