Sandoval: “These weeks are being an ordeal”

Sandoval was very excited to play tomorrow's game against Deportivo and looking forward to the end of what, he says, is being an ordeal for the entire team. After this press conference, Fuenlabrada will train for the last time in Madrid before returning to Galicia to play the last LaLiga Smartbank match.

There has been talk of the paripé match, how are you feeling with Deportivo de la Coruña?

Everyone sees the game as they think. For us it is historical. If we get a point we get there. These are very difficult conditions, to come confined in a hotel. They are not the best conditions, but the same as when the League resumed. Everyone said that they were going to be pachangas and no. With the available people that we are going to have, we are going to give up our lives.

Are you going to say hello to Fernando Vázquez?

Sure, he's a fellow student. He is in the stands for expulsion, but of course I will greet him if I see him in the field.

What players will you have available?

Right now is our last training, now we will do the math. We are training around 21 people, counting on those of the subsidiary. We are not going to make excuses, we were the ones who set a date. We believe that we deserved to play a game that was postponed, not suspended. That all the teams play the same games is the fairest thing. Players who are displaced will multiply on the field. It is a soccer game, there are people who are joining the car at a political level, but it is a soccer game and the result that comes out we will accept for better or for worse. We wanted a date because it is hurting teams that are still training and have to play the playoffs now. We will leave satisfied and with our heads held high regardless of the result.

Do you understand Deportivo's anger?

I do not understand the anger of a club that will only be required to finish a game to end the season. No one said this was not going to be played. The deadlines were being set for the Fuenlabrada to recover the form in case there was a COVID case. Bad luck that happened on the last day. I can assure you that Fuenlabrada is not in the best conditions to play the game, but we want to finish the League. There is no one more benefited than another.

Can this game be dangerous because of all the friction and controversy it has had?

I have never doubted the professionalism of the players or the manager of Deportivo. Racing came down here and competed as the most. Those of us who belong to this world what we have to do is give everything up to the last minute regardless of what you risk. Deportivo will face the game to want to win, I do not understand that a team comes out to draw or lose. There was much speculation about all this because certain results have occurred, but if Deportivo depended on itself it would be different. There is much and very bad talk about everything that is happening. It is best to end this match. Those who have the right to playoffs play it, and those who don't, that's what the courts are for. We do not ask that anyone's playoff or relegation be taken from anyone, we just want to play.

What kind of game are you waiting for with two teams coming from standing still for a long time?

A strange game, but in which we are going to put a lot of pride and enthusiasm to find the point we need to qualify. I pray that there are no injuries or setbacks, they are people who deserve that this ends as soon as possible, that time put everyone in their place. It is a very important game because I know we have a very big responsibility. You cannot imagine the ordeal that we are suffering from all the threats in the last days when we only want to play a game. This may happen to another team and we will support it because we know how difficult it is for everyone to go through this.
