The ‘new’ Bernabéu enters a new phase

The remodeling works of the Santiago Bernabéu continue to progress and, from now on, a new phase begins, one of the most significant being that of hoisting the segments of the roof.

The club, on its website, has reported that “a metal structure made up of two trusses or girders stayed from east to west has been enabled, that is, from the Paseo de la Castellana to Padre Damián. Each of these trusses or beams is 176 meters long and will be supported by the two new Castellana towers and by two supports located where the Padre Damián towers were previously located. From each of these four points ten voussoirs will be hoisted that will be united in the center by means of a key voussoir ”.

In this way, the white temple continues to meet the deadlines of a work that, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, has not stopped except for the week in which the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, decreed the cessation of all non-primary activities.

The site, as is logical, is surrounded by several cranes that reach ninety meters high and coexist with the tall office buildings that reside on Paseo de la Castellana. However, the stadium is still enabled to receive all those who want to visit the museum through the Tour.
