Malaga: only 17 professionals and waiting for Keidi to go to Espanyol

Málaga will once again face planning plagued with obstacles. The club has exceeded the salary limit and must adapt it to be able to adjust its size to its current situation. A lot of smart work to do.

We review the current Málaga squad once the season has ended. Munir, Cifu, Luis Hernández, Lombán, Diego González, Juankar, Rolón, Boulahroud, Benkhemassa, Renato Santos, Tete Morente, Juanpi, Adrián, Dani Pacheco, Iván Rodríguez, José Rodríguez and Álex Mula. There are 17 professionals. From this list, the last three return from their respective assignments in Ponferradina, Fuenlabrada and Alcorcón. We do not include the four who have finalized their commitment and who will not continue except for surprise in some specific case. Buenacasa and Sadiku return to Mallorca and Levante while Aarón Ñíguez and Mikel Villanueva are already free agents.

Of these 17 professionals José María Muñoz (judicial administrator) and Manolo Gaspar (sports director) have to hold meetings with the majority to negotiate an optimization of their salaries to adapt them to the economic reality of the club, in clear gap in terms of their salary limit. We cannot forget that the club has been forced to undertake an ERE that affects about 40 workers. Hard times.

Another issue is that of footballers with a filia cardl. This season they have played 13. Two of them, Hugo Vallejo and Antoñín, were transferred to Real Madrid and Granada for a total of 1.8 million euros. The rest are Gonzalo, Kellyan, Ismael, Luis Muñoz, Juande, Cristo, Keidi Bare, Ramón Enríquez, Hicham, Iván Jaime, and Julio.

Of these eleven there are two exceptional cases. They are Luis Muñoz and Keidi Bare. The first has finished a contract and it is very difficult for him to continue because he has proposals from several teams that are much higher than what Malaga can currently offer that could only reach a professional contract for the minimum salary. Keidi Bare, who in the new season should become a professional, can go to Espanyol. Negotiations are well under way between the two teams that can take shape as soon as the Catalan team announces its new coach (Vicente Moreno is the best placed candidate).

In the aforementioned group of 17 professionals we have included the three who are returning on loan and whom the club will have to register as soon as it receives the blessing from LaLiga as well as the footballers who may come. There are three names that have been advertised, Alberto Escassi (Numancia), Fidel Escobar (Panamanian central San Miguelito) and Menudo, according to Diario de León. This is an end that ends the contract with the Cultural Leonesa. Even to sign Second B players, Málaga has problems. It already happened last year with Josep Señé that ended up in Mallorca, although in this case the cause was the famous ‘laziness’ of Abdullah Al Thani.
