Lugo goes back to Mirandés and achieves permanence

With a double from Cristian Herrera in the second half, CD Lugo ended his spectacular comeback in qualifying to seal his tenure at LaLiga SmartBank after beating CD Mirandés (2-1), who had gone ahead of the break with a Both from Brazilian Marcos.

The CD Lugo did not come out to speculate. He launched from the beginning to win, assuming command of the match against an opponent who waited tucked into his field his opportunity to counterattack. The locals had the ball, dominated, but lacked depth on the wings to harm Mirandés.

That did not prevent, however, that they had four opportunities to get ahead, the clearest in Cristian Herrera's boots. In the first, his shot went high (min.5); in the second, his powerful cross shot went slightly off target (min.17).

With the passage of minutes, Lugo was in a hurry and began to neglect his defense. Brazilian striker Marcos André gave the first warning to Mirandés with a counterattack ended with a weak shot in the middle of the first act.

It was enough to scare the rojiblancos, who stopped dominating. Guridi and Malsa were multiplying in the midfield to suffocate the organizers of Lugo, who received a blow to the edge of the break with the goal of Marcos: ball on the back of the centrals, the Brazilian dribbles Ander and scores with a shot crossed.

The referee Ocón Arráiz did not give the goal at first, but after being warned by the VOR room he rectified. The Mirandés sent to rest. And he was able to extend his advantage on the first play of the second half with a header from Odei. Lugo breathed, which touched the tie shortly after after a cross from Campadabal that neither Manu Barreiro nor Peybernes managed to finish.

That action revitalized the locals, who had a double chance to tie. Raúl Lizoain showed off with a spectacular hand down after a cross shot by Cristian Herrera and shortly afterwards at point-blank he took the shot from Djaló.

The Lugo grew. And he had his prize after Herrera took advantage of the rebound, after another great stop by Lizoain to the shot of Manu Barreiro, to equalize the duel, again with suspense because the referee invalidated the goal for offside. From the VOR room they corrected the referee again.

With the Mirandés locked in its field, the Lugo was a steamroller. His goal seemed a matter of time. Manu Barreiro grazed him, with a shot that went high, and Cristian Herrera, who got the ball with Barreiro only at the far post. But he received the award in the absence of five minutes: Herrera did not fail against Lizoain, to complete the comeback of those of Juanfran García, who closes the course undefeated as a rojiblanco coach, with 11 points from the last 15 at stake.
