Bayern celebrates its eighth league in a row against the (almost) empty stands

The Bayern celebrated its eighth consecutive Bundesliga title on Tuesday before the almost empty stands of the Weser-Stadion in Bremen where only people close to the club applauded as the president of the Board of Directors, Karlheinz Rummenigge or his appointed successor, Oliver Kahn.

The coronavirus pandemic imposed its rules for the final stretch of the season and has made this title somewhat different from the others. Neither public in the stands, nor beer bath on the court. And there will be no party at Marienplatz either; neither on returning to Munich, nor after the last day.

It is a curious title for everything that has happened

“It is a curious title because of everything that has happened,” Rummenigge told Sky channel. “But we are totally satisfied, since Hansi Flick took over the team we have played attractive football and everyone deserves it,” he added.

After the last day there will be a small party in the stadium after the salad bowl is delivered. “For me the most important thing is that we were able to win the title on the field and play the season to the end. It would have been awful if the title was defined in offices, “stressed the German international.
