It happened during the PSG-Bordeaux played on February 23 in Paris. A banner in the Park of the Princes said “Fear of winning”, in relation to the attitude of the PSG squad in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Borussia Dortmund, a duel in which the Germans imposed themselves by 2-1. That encounter left quite a lot of negative protagonists on the part of the Gallic team, and one was Mbappé.
The French forward responded on Instagram to the PSG ultras: “Fear of winning? Never”. A response that did not sit well with the Paris fans, tired of seeing his team lose in the round of 16 of the European Cup. Mbappé's relationship with the prince's park stands has cooled in the last year, a reality that yesterday filled the cover of L’Equipe: “In a state of alert,” the newspaper headlined, which also pointed to its first page: “The best scorer of the season lives an idyllic relationship with part of the stands.” He arrived in 2017 as one of the emerging stars of world football, but over the years, he has not reaped the love that others have achieved, such as
Verratti or Cavani.
The elimination in the round of 16 against Manchester United last season was the beginning of everything. Mbappé was one of those indicated for failing several clear occasions and questioned his commitment in the important matches. Then his clashes with Tuchel would come for being replaced against Montpellier or Nantes, an attitude that did not like a hobby characterized by not wanting players who feel more important than the club. Neymar's clashes with the PSG ultras in the past are good proof of that.
A situation that benefits Madrid, aware that it needs the PSG to open to negotiate to fulfill the dream of the white fans. At the moment, Mbappé fulfills its role: it has refused to sign a renewal and its current contract ends in 2022.
