Lawyer Irene Aguiar expects that in Spain “it is a matter of time” that there are problems with trans sportsmen

“That men do not participate in women’s competitions is justice,” he said at the AEPD Congress in Valladolid

Fuensaldaña (Valladolid), 18 Mar. (Europa Press) –

The lawyer specialized in sports law Irene Aguiar provides that in Spain it is “a matter of time” that there are “problems” with the participation and legislation of transporters transports in national competitions, and considered that the “does not happen” solution for the creation of a specific category for the inclusion of these people with different sensitivity.

“In Spain, the situation with transporters is very complex due to the different legislation in each autonomous community, and it is a matter of time that there are problems with trans sportsmen. That men do not participate in women’s competitions is a matter of justice,” he said in the LXI Congress of the Spanish Association of the Sports Press, which is celebrated in the Castillo de Fuensaldaña (Valladolid).

In the presentation entitled ‘Sport, a matter of sex’, Irene Aguiar recalled that the first cases of athletes who identified with the other sex date back to the 1990s, and said that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has realized that “he made an error” in the directives prior to the year 2021.

“That is why he has left in the hands of each international federation that decides what the regulations are in their respective sport. At the legal level it is perfectly possible to create a category, another thing is that it is fair or not, and I do not believe that trans people want it,” said the lawyer, who advises, among other sports agencies, to the F. League.

The Canarian lawyer, who was a speaker at the Congress of Deputies in the debate on the new Sports Law, gave as an example the Boston Marathon in which the ‘non -binary’ category was created, in which a man won. “That is not fair because two prizes were given to men and, in addition, there were several hundred who achieved a better result,” he said.
