British tennis player Jack Draper won this Sunday with his first 1000 Masters to win (6-2, 6-2) to Danish Holger Rune in the final of the Indian Wells tournament, while the Russian Mirra Andreeva took the WTA title against Belarusa Aryna Sabalenka with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Draper, a recent finalist in Doha, culminated two weeks to frame, with special mention of his triumph in the semifinals over the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz, to conquer the third title of his career and the most prestigious. The English, which will enter the ‘Top 10’ on Monday for the first time as number seven in the world, swept its rival in an hour and nine minutes.
Draper’s winning inertia led him to get 6-2 and 1-0 in just over half an hour, without having faced any ‘break’ ball. The 23 -year -old English did not suffer with his serve either in what was left of second set and reaffirmed his rent with another ‘break’ in the seventh game to conquer the Californian tournament.
In the WTA appointment, Andreeva, Pupila of the Spanish Conchita Martínez, signed her second title followed by category 1,000 with a large comeback on the number one in the world. The Russian extended her streak undefeated 12 games after winning last month in Dubai, three trophies already in her record with 17 years, bending Sabalenka as she did in semifinals with IgA Swiatek, number two in the world.
