Midshipman Leonor’s bruise when she raises her right hand to salute

On the deck of Elcano, just before disembarking in Las Palmas, Leonor raised her right arm to salute and at that moment we saw the bruise. In all likelihood, it is a consequence of one of the exercises and training carried out by the midshipmen on the training ship. Just a few days ago, the daughter of the Kings climbed the mast of the sailboat, about 50 meters high. A traditional maneuver carried out by all students. The ship has moored in the port of the Canary Islands capital this Tuesday, January 21, as planned.

It was the second stopover in Elcano. The historic Navy training ship where Leonor completes her training has docked at the Las Palmas dock after its journey from Tenerife. From the deck, as is tradition, the Princess of Asturias saluted by shaking her hat with her right hand. Next to her were her fellow midshipmen.

The Juan Sebastián de Elcano has arrived in the Canary Islands capital after a journey of just two hours from Santa Cruz. Their arrival has left us with the emblematic photograph of the midshipmen in formation on the seven decks greeting the public that was on the dock.

The ship will remain in Las Palmas until Thursday, January 23, when it will head to Brazil. Until that moment, before beginning its journey across the Atlantic Ocean and leaving for Salvador de Bahía, Elcano will be moored in port. An open day is planned for tomorrow, Wednesday, so that the public will have the opportunity to tour the deck of the emblematic ship.
