Racing returns to direct promotion by a landslide and Almería misses Luis Suárez

MADRID 19 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The leader Almería could not (0-0) with Huesca this Sunday on matchday 23 of LaLiga Hypermotion, failing at the opportunity to consolidate its position at the top, while Racing de Santander thrashed Racing de Ferrol (6-0) to be second.

The Andalusian team missed Luis Suárez, the Second Division’s top scorer who was suspended and, furthermore, under rumors of a possible departure, and forgave at home a Huesca team stuck in the ‘Top 6’ after eight games without losing. Dani Jiménez stopped the leader in the Huesca goal and especially unnerved Leo Baptistao, who missed several good chances.

Thus, Almería could not better forget the elimination in the Copa del Rey but continues to add, 14 consecutive days without losing, to maintain the lead with 43 points compared to 42 for Racing de Santander and 40 for Elche, third.

In the ‘Racings’ duel, the one from Santander struck down the one from Ferrol to place second and return to the direct promotion zone. Despite going two months without winning, José Alberto’s men keep their dream of promotion to First Division intact. Andrés Martín, from a penalty, Arana, Sangalli and Pablo Rodríguez’s double in the second half returned the excitement to the El Sardinero stadium.

On the other hand, the day left suffering and distribution of points in La Romareda, where Real Zaragoza tied Tenerife with a lethal minute (2-2) to remain in the middle of the table. The Maños embittered the Canaries when they already tasted three points to bring salvation closer, with goals from Enrique Clemente and Iván Azón.

In addition, Córdoba and Deportivo de La Coruña moved away from the red zone with away victories. The Andalusian team won (1-2), with a goal from Albarrán in the 96th minute, against a Castellón that continued its free fall and the Galician team beat (0-1) and stopped Burgos in El Plantío with the solitary goal from Mario Soriano.
