He has a court date on Monday for allegedly defrauding a family of millions.

Joan Laporta smiled big last Sunday when his team, Barça, gave Real Madrid a helping hand in the Super Cup final, held in Saudi Arabia. Days later, we learned that Next Monday the president of Barça has a very different appointment: this time in court for a case for which he is being investigated in the Investigative Court number 6 of Barcelona. He is summoned to testify.

The summons arrived last November, as announced this Thursday The Newspaper. The president of the Barcelona club is being investigated for an alleged scam of 4.7 million euros.

A family filed a complaint against him and two other people were also charged and summoned to testify: a salesman from a dealership in Sant Cugat and a bank worker. The family invested in the CSSB Limited company and did not get the money agreed upon in their contract, according to the complaint. The alleged scam investigated was committed between 2016 and 2018 and it all started in 2014, when this family won 34 million euros thanks to Primitiva. They decided to invest and put part of their money in this company, advised, they say, by Laporta.

They signed a contract with CSSB Limited that became effective in November 2017 and which, according to the complaint, was written in English and had an illegible signature. They also maintain that it included clauses that were harmful to the family.

In the complaint, they accuse Laporta of taking advantage of his “lack of financial knowledge”. They also explain that he invited them to the Camp Nou box on several occasions and they trusted him. The family invested in a high-end car, a luxurious Lamborghini that they purchased at the dealership mentioned above.
