Trip of the week for Queen Letizia: destination, Barcelona. Content: field of women’s health. The wife of Felipe VI has moved to Barcelona to visit the Dexeus Mujer Foundation and present the XIX Dexeus Mujer awards, on the occasion of the institution’s 30th anniversary. This year, the winner was Professor of Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine at the University of Birmingham, Arri Coomarasamy, officer of the Order of the British Empire and expert in women’s health. The Minister of Equality, Ana Redondo, accompanied the Queen.
We saw Mrs. Letizia very smiling upon her arrival at the Barcelona hospital. The Queen has dispensed with the coat (a key piece of her winter outfits) and has braved the rigors of the cold with a bright red knit dress. It is a Dries van Noten design that she really likes and that she usually combines with black suede boots and an XL belt to cinch her waist. The bag, by CH Carolina Herrera Victoria model, is a piece that is inspired by those known as kellya label she earned thanks to her best ambassador and fan, Grace Kelly, in those golden years of Hollywood.
But let’s go back to Barcelona. Mrs. Letizia has presented the Dexeus Mujer Foundation award to Professor Coomarasamy, in recognition of his contribution to preventing pregnancy losses and reducing maternal mortality during childbirth. The awardee is also director of Tommy’s National Center for Miscarriage Research; and founding director of WHO Women’s Health Center.
In its 30 years of history, the foundation recognizes the work of a person or an institution for its relevant contribution in the field of health, especially referring to women, in the specialty of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive medicine.
