Hansi Flick: “The caution was a boost before the game”

“We won with a clean sheet and the team did very well”

BARCELONA, 8 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The coach of FC Barcelona, Hansi Flick, has admitted after winning 0-2 against Athletic Club, in the first semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup, that he is happy with his team’s performance, for leaving a clean sheet and for having received the “push” of the good news of the precautionary measure given by the CSD to the club so that Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor can, for the moment, play in this tournament that is being held in Saudi Arabia and whose final will be on Sunday against Real Madrid or RCD Mallorca.

“I don’t want to talk about the past, we have to move forward and hopefully this decision benefits us. Dani and Pau are happy. For us it was a boost before the game, we all wanted to show that we are a team,” Flick commented at a press conference from Jeddah.

In this sense, Flick said he was “very happy” for this favorable resolution from the CSD, and above all for his players. “I’m happy for them and for the entire team. We learned about it on the coach and everyone at the club is very happy,” he reiterated.

But, beyond the caution, Flick celebrated a fairly resounding victory, with moments of good play and that leaves behind the bad streak of results in LaLiga. “I’m very happy with what we did. We won 0-2, that’s what we wanted, to keep a clean sheet. The team has done very well and it’s the most important thing,” he said.

“In the first part of the season we did very well. But we have a young team, the most important thing for us is how we play. We have lost games, it didn’t go well, but now against Barbastro and Athletic we have already won and also without conceding goals,” he celebrated.

On the other hand, he assured that it was something stipulated to change Lamine Yamal, scorer of one of the goals but who had just been out for more than a month due to injury. “I know you are always looking at Lamine, but we have a team and we have to take care of the players, because they are the ones who gave us the victory. Lamine was injured and we had to change him after 60-65 minutes,” Flick finally said.
