Carlos Corberán will sit on the Valencia bench until 2027 after reaching an agreement in principle with English club West Bromwich Albion to leave the team, as confirmed by both clubs in separate statements.

In that sense, Valencia has informed West Bromwich Albion of the execution of the exit option stipulated in Corberán’s contract to be separated from the English team.

“Albion have reached an agreement in principle for Carlos Corberán to leave the club to seek a new opportunity at La Liga side Valencia. The 41-year-old will return to his homeland with the club’s gratitude and best wishes after a spell for two years at The Hawthorns (West Bromwich Albion’s stadium)”, the English team has indicated for its part.

Corberán has coached West Bromwich Albion in the 2022-2023 (ninth place) and 2023-2024 (fifth place) seasons. Previously he coached the Greek Olympiacos in 2022-2023 (for only five games) and was previously the coach of English Huddersfield Town, where he remained for two seasons (2020-2021 and 2021-2022).

“Carlos Corberán arrives at Valencia CF after his time in England, where he has developed the main part of his career. The new Valencia coach coached Huddersfield Town for two years and after a brief spell at Olympiakos FC he returned to the United Kingdom to direct to West Bromwich Albion, the team with which they played in the promotion playoff to the Premier League last season,” Valencia detailed in a statement.

The Valencian club has also highlighted that Corberán began his career on the bench at the age of 23 and that he trained in Villarreal’s youth ranks.

“Over the last few seasons he has gained experience in different competitive environments in international football, among which his time as assistant coach of Leeds United alongside Marcelo Bielsa stands out,” he added.

Corberán’s arrival at Mestalla comes after the dismissal of the previous Valencia coach, Rubén Baraja, which occurred last Monday.

“Valencia CF has decided to put an end to Rubén Baraja’s time as first team coach. The club wishes to publicly thank him for his passion, his dedication and the commitment he has shown from the first to the last day,” the entity reported through from a statement on its website.
