MADRID 8 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Los Angeles Galaxy became champion of the Major Soccer League (MLS) for the sixth time in its history, the first in ten years, by beating the New York Red Bulls (2-1) this Saturday in the final for the MLS Cup 2024 played in the Dignity Health Sports Park.
The LA Galaxy ended their drought and expanded their record that remains the best in the North American league thanks to goals from Joseph Paintsil and Dejan Joveljic in the first quarter of an hour.
Both remembered the Spanish Riqui Puig in their celebrations, injured a week ago during the definition of the Western Conference, with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The former FC Barcelona player completed a season to mark with 17 goals and 20 assists.
The Red Bulls reacted in the 28th minute with a goal from central defender Sean Nealis but the Angelenos stayed in the final held in their stadium, leaving the bullfighting team without a chance for their first title.
