City Of Troy’s 2000 Guineas flop is well and truly a thing of the past, as the Aidan O’Brien horse has now surpassed the £2 million mark for the season after landing a fantastic hat-trick of top-level victories.
The Coolmore horse bounced back from his Newmarket disappointment to win the Derby, pocketing a cool £882,407, before victories in the Eclipse (£425,325) and valuable Juddmonte International at York (£708,875).
With City Of Troy set to head Stateside for the end-of-season Breeders’ Cup Classic, there’s a chance he could add almost £3 million more to his earnings should he win the illustrious contest.
Los Angeles – £672,174
Someway behind City Of Troy in terms of prize money in second is his Ballydoyle stablemate Los Angeles, who has amassed over £672,000 with some high-profile victories for O’Brien in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
The three-year-old won a Group 3 Derby Trial worth €47,200 at Leopardstown on his seasonal reappearance before scooping £167,425 for finishing third in the Derby at Epsom. Wins in the Irish Derby and Great Voltigeur Stakes have followed since.
Kyprios – £652,165
It will come as no surprise that it’s another O’Brien-trained horse that comes in third on this list, as Kyprios has added over £625k to his career earnings this campaign, taking his total winnings to £1,721,622.
The six-year-old won a Listed race at Navan and a Group 3 at Leopardstown to rack up roughly £60k from his first two starts of the season before winning the Ascot Gold Cup for a second time in June. His most recent win in the Goodwood Cup was worth £283,550.
Auguste Rodin – £600,725
It’s to the surprise of many that Auguste Rodin has carried on racing into his four-year-old season as he’s posed to be a lucrative sire after winning the Epsom and Irish Derbies last year.
However, he has added a cool £600,725 to his career winnings with a second in the Tattersalls Gold Cup and a win in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes this campaign.

O’Brien-trained horses continue to dominate, with Opera Singer boasting over £516k this campaign, largely down to winning in the Group 1 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood, while Content’s win in the Yorkshire Oaks took her over the £300k barrier.
Magical Zoe scored in the very valuable Ebor Handicap for Henry de Bromhead, securing £300,000, while Vauban has pocketed more than £215k for Willie Mullins this campaign.
