Jimmy Giménez-Arnau, the legendary commentator and journalist, dies at the age of 80

The news has taken his friends of the deceased by surprise Save mewho broke into tears after learning what had happened. “We are devastated” and “it is news that we would never have imagined giving,” they lamented.

In the last two decades of his life, his heart was occupied by Sandra Salgado, whom he married in 2013. After receiving a message of condolences from Belén Esteban, the widow of the legendary journalist and commentator has replied: “Thank you very much Belén. I didn’t get to see Madrid’s new stadium, but oh well. A big hug.”.

“Sandra is the woman I have loved most in my entire life, the most serious, responsible and hard-working of all the women I have been with,” Jimmy himself explained in an interview with Hello.

The journalist turned 80 this weekend, on Saturday 14 September, and the cause of his death is currently unknown. The son of a diplomat, Jimmy became particularly well-known for his relationship with Merry Martínez-Bordiú. They married on 3 August 1977 in the chapel of Plazo de Meirás, in A Coruña, and from this union his only daughter was born, Leticia Giménez-Arnau Martínez Bordiú, with whom he had not had a relationship for years. In his second marriage, the charismatic journalist, passionate about football and Real Madrid, was married to María Teresa Fernández Peral, from whom he separated in 1993 after starting their relationship in 1987.
