Latre says goodbye to the ‘Babylon Show’ with a message for Motos and Broncano: “I don’t make wars”

The comedian’s programme lasted three weeks in one of the most competitive slots on the schedule, three days since his rivals arrived, Pablo Motos and David Broncano. The Anthill y The Revolt They started the season last Monday and ended up with a very poor Babylon Show to failure. The program of Carlos Latre hadn’t even taken off and was hovering between 3 and 6% of the share, an unacceptable figure for Mediaset. The channel has killed off the format this Wednesday and Carlos Latre has said goodbye to his small audience with a smile and a dig (or a few) at the competition: “I don’t make wars.”

Surrounded by some members of his team, such as Josie, Ismael Beiro and Marta Tornéthe imitator said: “As I said before, I don’t wage wars, we haven’t waged wars, we’ve only made television and we’ve only tried to entertain you, to try to change things in some way because enough of confrontations and enough of polarity.” With a firm voice and an upbeat attitude, unlike the sad and serious expression of his colleagues, he continued: “We wanted to keep in mind mental health, which is so important, we wanted to have new people, good people, expert people, friendly people and real people, above all, real people.”

Latre has assured that during the time they have been on the air they have tried to “be real” but “Television is very hard in the end and sometimes things get to you.”

“We wanted to say thank you to all of you. We have tried to do our best. We have put all our love, all our passion and we have tried to make sure there is humour, music, good vibes, positivity… many of the things that we lack today in our country,” he continued. “I want to thank the 200 people who are behind this Babylon and we will see each other in other places, in other programmes but above all I always say what I want to say and let it be a motto for life: whatever happens, let’s never stop laughing.”

A ‘death’ announced

Carlos Latre premiered Babylon Show on August 26, taking advantage of the fact that its rivals were on vacation. The first day it exceeded 10%, but soon fell to 6%. Last week it fell below 5% and Mediaset began to cut back on the program, eliminating the Thursday and Friday editions for this week.

Starting next week, Telecinco will broadcast summaries of Big Brother which will be presented by Laura Madrueño in the access on Monday and Wednesday. On Tuesday and Thursday she will simply limit herself to advancing the start of the galas that she offers on those days. And on Fridays she will do the same with From Friday.
