“I will vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz”

“The easiest way to combat misinformation is with the truth,” the singer says in an Instagram post published after the debate between the vice president and Democratic candidate and the former Republican president, a debate that the vast majority of polls say has been clearly won by Kamala Harris. Among the phrases of Donald Trump that heard Taylor Swift Before publicly supporting Kamala, there are the claims that Democrats want to allow abortion up to 9 months of pregnancy or even after the baby is born, or that immigrants eat American pets, dogs and cats. Perhaps because of this last nonsense, Taylor Swift signs her message of support on her Instagram account (283 million followers): “Childless woman with cat.”

It took just a few moments after Kamala Harris cornered Donald Trump in the presidential debate for the American singer to announce her support for Kamala Harris for president with a post on Instagram: “I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election. I will be voting for Kamala Harris because she fights for the rights and causes that I believe need someone to stand up for them.”

In her post, Swift also refers to The AI-generated images shared by Donald Trump in late August that falsely portrayed Taylor Swift and her fans as supporting her campaign for president: “It raised my fears around AI and the dangers of spreading false information. It led me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my plans for this election as a voter.”

Swift said she had watched the debate and urged her fans to research “the positions that these candidates take on the issues that matter most to you.” She signed off with the line “cat lady with no kids,” a reference to comments by Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance. In remarks in 2021 to then-Fox News host Tucker Carlson, Vance called senior Democrats in Congress and the Biden administration “a bunch of cat ladies with no kids who are miserable about their own lives and the choices they’ve made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too.”
