Spain starts the Women’s Flag Football World Cup with two victories

One win and one loss for the men’s team at the tournament in Lahti

MADRID, 27 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish women’s flag football team began the World Championship on Tuesday, which is being held in Lahti (Finland), with victories against Switzerland (33-31) and New Zealand (12-41) in its first two games, while the men’s team beat Serbia (45-24) and lost against the United States (57-25).

In this non-contact form of American football, which will be an Olympic sport at the 2028 Los Angeles Games, the Spanish teams are gradually catching up with those from other countries. Daniel Castañón’s team have thus achieved these two victories in Group E and are holding four points, waiting to face Austria on Wednesday (12:00 pm).

Meanwhile, Chus Batista’s men began their Group A campaign with a win against the Serbian team. However, they then lost to the USA and will play for their continued place in the championship on Wednesday (08.15) against the Brazilian team.
