Pete Morris, a pizza maker they met last year by chance, died of cancer. It happened in May, but as soon as they heard of his death, they sent a letter to the family. Morris’s widow herself told the story, grateful for the closeness of the Royal Family.
The Prince and Princess of Wales met this humble pizza maker on April 27, 2023shortly after the coronation of Charles III. They went to buy pizzas for an informal meal with the mountain rescue team that operates from Merthyr Tydfil, the main town in Wales, north of Cardiff.

In May of this year, he passed away, something that is particularly painful for the royal family, considering that Charles III’s daughter-in-law is receiving preventative treatment for cancer.
“We cannot imagine the immense void he has left in your life, my heart is with you and your family. Catherine and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Pete. We know that Pete was a very dedicated and valued member of the community.which has been made clear in the response to his death,” said the letter that Prince William wrote to his widow (Tracey) and which has now been echoed by British media such as The Sun.
“I wanted you to know that we have you and your family in our thoughts.”concluded a message that Peter’s wife has framed for her daughters to keep. “It was a huge surprise. I don’t even know how they found out that Pete had died. It may have touched a nerve because Kate is receiving treatment,” she explained to the aforementioned media.
