Joan Mir: “We have avoided making mistakes”

MADRID, 3 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Spanish MotoGP rider Joan Mir (Repsol Honda) said after finishing 16th in the Sprint race at the British Grand Prix that he tried to “avoid mistakes” and understand the differences with the front-runners, in order to try to have a better long race this Sunday.

“It was a difficult race in which we avoided making mistakes. I was able to be with the other Honda riders and understand the differences we have between us,” he said in statements provided by the team.

“We remain positive and looking to the future, tomorrow we will look again at some small changes to maximise our performance. Of course, we will already have an upgrade for Sunday, the incredible 1983 livery!” he said, referring to the ‘vintage’ package they will sport to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the championship.

Luca Marini, after finishing fifteenth, just ahead of Mir, said he had a “positive” day. “My qualifying was pretty good, I could have gone a bit faster in the last sector, but I’m happy to see that our performance is improving,” he said.

“We’ve made a small step at every race, but there’s still work to be done, especially when it comes to our sprint pace. Being consistent throughout the race is something we need to work on, I think Zarco has an advantage here compared to us, so there’s room for improvement. I’m looking forward to tomorrow,” he said.
