Queen Letizia ‘pulls’ a chair at the official reception of Marivent due to her foot problems

The Mallorcan palace opened its doors this Monday to host the reception of the King and Queen to Balearic society. Don Felipe y Queen Letizia They have been accompanied, one more year, by Doña Sofía, who has been living on the island for days with her sister Irene of Greece. This is an official event for which the queen, who last Sunday dazzled at the closing ceremony of the Atlántida Film Fest in a satin silver lingerie dress, has chosen a very fresh and comfortable outfit for the occasion.

The consort debuted this Monday an ethnic print dress by Maksu. It is the ‘Jane’ model, made of a light, flowing fabric with a midi length, short sleeves and a V-neckline with gold appliqués. Its original price was 240 euros, although it is now on sale and can be purchased on the brand’s website for 144 euros. She combined it with gold, flat sandals, as she suffers from a Norton Neuroma that causes intense pain in her left foot. In fact, Letizia had the support of a high chair during the greeting of the guests, although in the end she did not have to use it. She did in April, during the gala dinner at the Amsterdam Palace with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands.

Queen Sofia, for her part, opted for a flowing ensemble of trousers and a kaftan with a floral print in shades of blue and green.

The three of them welcomed all the guests in the palace gardens. Among the attendees, more than 600, were regional authorities and institutions of the Islands, the regional government, the parliament of the Islands, island councils, town councils and representatives of official colleges, the Ramon Llull Awards, business and trade union organisations, designations of origin, the tourism sector, religious denominations, the 2023 University Excellence Awards, foundations and associations, health, culture, architecture, sport, gastronomy and the media, among others.

After the welcome, everyone enjoyed a friendly and informal evening in which they were able to taste some of the delicacies of Balearic cuisine prepared by the Mallorcan chefs Marga Coll and Maca De Castro. The menu they prepared, according to Zarzuela, consists of two courses, savoury and sweet. Among the savoury starters, aubergines stuffed with black Mallorcan pork and roasted tomato sauce, pickled skate with carrot and orange, cream of Mallorcan langoustines and hazelnuts, coca with roasted peppers and Felanitx pâté, courgette coca, dried tomatoes and Sa Cabreta cheese, crispy Can Company suckling pig with chilli jam, fried Mallorcan rock octopus with vegetables, tumbet, croquettes stewed with four spices, spinach tart with strawberry and pepper, tomato with Mahon and caper, puffed bread filled with ‘estopeta’, pa amb oli with Mahon cheese and camaiot. As sweet starters, banana with almonds, carajillo with Amazon rum and ensaimada with pastry cream.
