New important date on the calendar for Felipe VI y Queen LetiziaThe Spanish royal family confirmed on Friday that the monarch and his wife will attend the dinner offered by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to mark the opening of the XXXIII Olympic Games 2024 on July 25.

The evening will take place at the Louvre Museum, one of the most emblematic places in the city. Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia’s parents will also be accompanied by other members of European royalty such as Maximum y William of Holland (close friends of Don Felipe and Doña Letizia), Haakon and Mette Marit of Norway and Carl Gustav and Silvia of Sweden.

The following day, King Felipe and Queen Letizia will attend the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games at the Place du Trocadero. The 10,500 athletes taking part in these Games will take part in the traditional parade on the Seine with boats for each national delegation, as indicated by official information.

This is not the first time that the King and Queen have attended an Olympic event. In 2012, Felipe and Letizia travelled to London for the sporting event. The monarch and his consort were at the opening ceremony, the reception for the Spanish Olympic team, and the closing ceremony of the games.

After attending the opening of the Olympic Games, the King and Queen will travel to Mallorca to enjoy a few days of relaxation with Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia. On 29 July, they are expected to hold the traditional reception for society at the Marivent Palace.
