Joan Mir: “The important thing is the sensations I had on the bike”

MADRID, 12 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish rider Joan Mir (Repsol Honda) has assured that, despite not being able to finish the MotoGP race of the French Grand Prix this Sunday, “the important thing” is “the sensations” he had on the bike, and he believes that they have taken “another step forward in the set-up” and that they have enjoyed “a good race pace.”

“The important thing we take away from today is the feeling I had on the bike. After the problem we had yesterday, it was fantastic to be able to take another step forward in the set-up and have had a good race pace,” he said in statements provided by his team.

In this sense, the Spaniard explained that he has been able to “confirm the impressions”, in addition to thanking the Repsol Honda team “for their work today”. “They gave me a bike with which I could attack. It is important to remain focused and positive, which is the pace we have shown and the work we are doing. Now we are going to Mugello to evaluate some parts,” he noted.

For his part, his teammate, the Italian Luca Marini, finished sixteenth. “It has once again been a long race for us, in which we are working on those areas that are giving us the most problems. We have seen that Joan, who was having a great race until she had the fall, has been able to take a big step forward during the weekend,” he stressed.

“I need to take that step, so we have to understand how to achieve it. I’m looking forward to doing the Mugello test. I’m sure we can find some improvement that we can use in Barcelona,” concluded the transalpine.
