Valencia CF has requested the postponement of its match on matchday 26 of LaLiga EA Sports this Saturday against Granada at Nuevo Los Cármenes (2:00 p.m.) in solidarity with the victims of the fire in the Campanar neighborhood of the Valencian capital.
“The club has processed the request to postpone this Saturday's match against Granada CF at the Nuevo Los Cármenes Stadium,” confirmed the Valencian entity in a statement. “From Valencia CF we are devastated by the terrible fire this Thursday on Avenida Maestro Rodrigo in the Campanar neighborhood, in Valencia, and we want to convey our deepest condolences and our love to the families and friends of the victims,” he added.
According to the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, and the Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, the fire that started on Thursday in a building in the Campanar area that affected another adjacent block of flats has been resolved, at the moment, with four people dead, 14 missing and 15 injured whose lives are not in danger.
“The club deeply regrets what happened, wants to send a lot of strength to all the victims and publicly thank the commendable work of the emergency services,” said Valencia, which also reported that this Friday the players and coaches of the men's first team, the women's first team and the VCF Academy teams will observe a respectful minute of silence at the beginning of their training sessions in memory of the victims.
In addition, he assured that, in line with the three days of mourning declared in the Valencian Community, Valencia CF will leave the flags at half-mast in its facilities and has included a symbolic crepe in its avatars on social networks. “Valencia CF has made itself available to institutions and emergency services to help with any need,” he concluded.
Subsequently, Granada reported that it will support the request of the Valencian club. “The Granada Football Club has been made aware of the request made by Valencia CF, in which they ask to postpone the match this Saturday, February 24 at the Nuevo Los Cármenes in solidarity with the victims of the fire that occurred this past Thursday at the Valencian capital,” he said.
“The red and white entity joins in condolences to the families and friends of those who died in this tragic event and sends all its support to the victims. Likewise, it informs that it will support the request to postpone the match and will let you know. to the Royal Spanish Football Federation and the Professional Football League,” he continued.
On the other hand, Levante also requested LaLiga to postpone the matchday 28 of LaLiga Hypermotion this Saturday against FC Andorra (9:00 p.m.) at the Ciutat de València. “This request is motivated by the tragic event that occurred yesterday afternoon in the capital of Túria after the fire of a house in the Campanar neighborhood,” he stressed.
“From the Levantine entity we join in the pain of the families and friends of the victims and we express our gratitude to the emergency services for their commendable work in this terrible event,” stated the Levantine club.
