Goya Awards 2024: tribute to Concha Velasco in Valladolid and award for Sigourney Weaver

Valladolid hosts for the first time the Goya Awards gala, which La 1 broadcasts this Saturday at 10:00 p.m. The caravan of Spanish cinema travels to the land of Concha Velasco, one of the most beloved and complete actresses in our industry, and the Academy could not pass up the opportunity to pay her a well-deserved tribute in her home. She had planned it before her death shocked the film world on December 2, and she has kept it after her sad loss. This Saturday's ceremony will have a very special memory for the legacy of the eternal 'ye ye girl' through a recognition, now posthumous, whose content is kept secret.

Velasco was nominated twice (Esquilache y Beyond the garden) and received the Goya of Honor in 2012 from his niece, Manuela Velasco. That same award is the one that today will go to the director of photography and restaurateur Juan Mariné. The Academy chaired by Fernando Méndez-Leite has granted him this special award “for his entire dedication during more than eighty years of career that spans the history of Spanish cinema.”

Sigourney Weaver, Goya International
