Tyson Fury was cut, and a new video seems to show the elbow that caused Oleksandr Usyk to lose the fight.
Due to an accidental elbow, Tyson Fury doesn’t look like he will be able to fight Oleksandr Usyk as planned. After the video of the fight came out, it looked like Fury was cut open by an elbow, even though she was wearing headgear.
Fury had to cancel his planned high-stakes unification fight with Uysk on Friday because he got a nasty cut over his left eyebrow while training.
The first plan for Fury and Usyk’s fight was for February 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) held the WBA, IBF, and WBO titles, as well as Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) held the WBC title. The fight was supposed to decide who was the undisputed heavyweight champion.
For a short time, mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic looked like he might be able to replace Usyk. However, on Friday, Turki Alalshikh, a royal adviser for Saudi Arabia, said that Fury vs. Usyk “will be rescheduled at a later time and tickets are going to be refunded to the public.”
Fury’s most recent fight was in October of last year, against lineal MMA heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in a 10-round match that wasn’t for a title. However, Fury barely got a split decision after Ngannou knocked him down in the third round.
There is a video that seems to show the moment when Tyson Fury got cut during sparring, which meant that his heavyweight title fight with Oleksandr Usyk had to be rescheduled.
There was going to be a fight between Fury and Usyk in Saudi Arabia on February 17. The winner would be the first uncontested heavyweight champion in 24 years.
The shocking news came on Friday, February 2, when the fight was pushed back because Fury got a serious cut over his right eye while sparring.
The 35-year-old made a statement about how upset he was that the fight had to be called off at the last minute.
Now, a video is going around that seems to show the moment the British person got that cut. He seems to have been hit with an elbow, and you can hear the heavyweight champion screaming in pain and anger after getting hit.
“I am completely devastated after working out so hard for so long and being in such great shape,” Fury said.
“I feel bad for everybody involved in this big event, and once my eye heals, I will work hard to get the new date set.”
“Let me say sorry to everyone who was hurt, including my team, Team Usyk, the fighters on the undercard, our hosts, and my fellow citizens in the country of Saudi Arabia.”
“Can’t help getting hurt in sparring,” Fury wrote on Instagram. “But what I can say is Usyk was in trouble.” Wow, I’m in great shape. I’ll set up a new time as soon as I can. “2024 will be a huge year for club GK [Gypsy King]”
After the video of the incident came out, it looked like Tyson Fury got cut during his fight with Oleksandr Usyk from an elbow that was thrown by accident.
Fury was supposed to fight Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight world titles in Saudi Arabia on February 17, but the fight had to be pushed back because Fury got a huge cut above his right eye.
We still want Usyk to defend his global titles on that date, but Fury will probably need a few months to get better after getting hurt.
Now, video footage shows the exact moment when Fury seems to have been cut. He lands a check hand on a sparring partner and then gets hit with an elbow by accident.
If that’s the video, then that was meant to be an elbow. “There is no room for a punch,” one person wrote. “That looks like a wrist for sure; look at where the glove hits the ground,” said a second comment.
