The Spanish women's basketball coach, Miguel Méndez, announced this Monday the list of 12 called up for the Pre-Olympic tournament in Sopron (Hungary), which will be held from February 8 to 11, with Alba Torrens as captain and the novelty of the center Megan Gustafson.

Cristina Ouviña, Maite Cazorla, Mariona Ortiz, Andrea Vilaró, Queralt Casas, Leonor Rodríguez, Alba Torrens, María Conde, Irati Etxarri, Raquel Carrera, Laura Gil and Megan Gustafson are the twelve chosen by Miguel Méndez to compete in the Pre-Olympic.

A tournament in which Spain will look for one of the three places at stake to be able to be in this summer's event in Paris 2024, since only one of the participants – Spain, Japan, Canada and Hungary – will be left without an Olympic ticket. .

The team will gather next Saturday in Madrid to prepare for the Pre-Olympic, with the presence of the 12 players chosen to compete in the tournament and two guests, point guard Laura Peña and center Nerea Hermosa, who will participate in the training sessions that the group will carry out in the capital before traveling to Hungary.

In the absence of Silvia Domínguez due to injury, Alba Torrens will act as captain in this meeting for which the national coach Miguel Méndez has also called the bases Cristina Ouviña, Maite Cazorla and Mariona Ortiz; the scouts Andrea Vilaró and Queralt Casas; wingmen Leonor Rodríguez and María Conde; power forward Irati Etxarri; and the pivots Raquel Carrera, Laura Gil and Megan Gustafson.

From February 8 to 11, Spain will fight to get a ticket to Paris 2024 at the Novomatic Arena, where they played two friendlies last summer. At the same time, the rest of the tournaments that will distribute the 10 places that complete the 12 teams that will be in Paris will be held in China, Brazil and Belgium.
