Atlético dispatches a harmless Valencia

Those from 'Cholo' draw on the strength of the Metropolitano to return to the League podium

MADRID, 28 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Atlético de Madrid beat Valencia with authority (2-0) this Sunday at the Cívitas Metropolitano, on matchday 22 of LaLiga EA Sports that returned the red and white team to the podium in the table, one more day at the office with the goals of Samuel Lino and Memphis Depay.

After eliminating Sevilla to reach the semifinal round in the Copa del Rey, Atlético also delivered in the League to add 44 points, third, 11 behind Girona, although with one game less. Those of 'Cholo', who are also being reinforced with signings, are going all out in the second part of the campaign. A Valencia greatly surpassed by the strength of the Metropolitano is left with 32 points, four away from sixth place.

Diego Pablo Simeone's team reduced the euphoria of a 'che' team that, despite coming in with four wins in a row, found themselves quite far behind the hosts. Atlético plays in another league and showed it with control and goals at opportune moments.

Furthermore, Valencia was not the one from Mestalla and entered in tow of the red-and-white intensity. All in all, Rubén Baraja's team spent the drink and lived more or less comfortably, despite a great chance by Antoine Griezmann against Mamardashvili, after another good pass from Memphis like the one he gave to Molina in the first of the game.

After the 20th minute, Valencia settled on the Madrid grass, but sinned in the last play, where they conceded 1-0 by neglecting the right wing. Atlético showed their hunger in a season that allows them to dream of a quick throw-in and the ball from Griezmann to the solo unmarking of Lino, who did not forgive his ex.

The restart was fueled by another intervention from Mamardashvili, after an unmarked shot by Savic. 'Cholo' felt superior and found the second in a great opening from Koke and Molina's center to a Memphis that once again took advantage of its minutes (2-0). A red and white pimpampum, with changes on top to sign it.

Simeone brought on Álvaro Morata and Marcos Llorente, in addition to Witsel, while Baraja did not see the option of reversing the situation on his bench. He put in Yaremchuk, who had the only chance in a shot that Oblak deflected, but the young Valencia, who was saved from a penalty by Gayá that was not, assumed his destiny in the Metropolitano.
