The International Motorcycle Federation and Infront Moto Racing published this Friday the final calendar of the Motocross World Championship (MXGP) for 2024, confirming that for the first time two grand prix will be held in Spain.
On the one hand, the advance of the appointment in the Community of Madrid for March 23 and 24 was indicated; and on the other hand, the call for the first time for the Grand Prix of Galicia was confirmed, scheduled to be held in Lugo on May 11 and 12.
“The Spanish Grand Prix, which was scheduled in May, is brought forward to the new date of March 23 and 24, adding to the always attractive Arroyomolinos-intu Xanadú test the incentive of being the opening race of the European season,” said the promoter company Infront Moto Racing through a press release.
According to that same note, the Community of Madrid “will be the scene of the launch of teams and drivers for the new campaign and that generates a special interest that will attract fans from all over Europe.” “The numerous tickets that have already been sold for this event remain valid for the new date or, if desired, a refund can be requested,” the press text added.
“The gap left by the Spanish Grand Prix on May 11 and 12 will be occupied by the highly anticipated and innovative Grand Prix of Galicia. The spectacular Jorge Prado Municipal Circuit of the Lugo City Council will welcome the best drivers in the world with open arms. who will take part in the sixth test of the season,” the note noted.
“The Xunta de Galicia will sponsor this event at a magical moment for Galician motocross, with Prado as MXGP World Champion and Rubén Fernández in the international elite. The Lugo track run by the Motopark Lugo club is already adapting its facilities and will have before another important event with the Spanish Championship on February 24 and 25,” concluded Infront Moto Racing.
