Rodríguez Uribes will attend the funeral of the athlete Carmen Valero in Sabadell this Thursday

The president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, will say his last goodbye this Thursday in Sabadell to Carmen Valero, a legend of Spanish athletics who recently died at the age of 68.

According to a press release from the CSD itself, Rodríguez Uribes will first attend the wake, which will take place at the Sabadell funeral home, and will later go to the funeral, which will take place at the Church of Sant Fèlix starting at 5:00 p.m.

“Carmen Valero (Castelserás, Teruel, 1955) was the best Spanish athlete of the 20th century. In 1976 she became the first Spanish Olympic athlete, competing in the 800 and 1500 meter events at the Montreal Games. In addition, she was champion of the cross country world on two occasions, in 1976 and 1977,” recalled the CSD note.
