The Spanish María Xiao achieved her first international title this Sunday at the WTT Feeder Biella table tennis event, after beating the American Lily Zhang in the final 3-1 (12-10, 11-5, 8-11, 11- 8).
Xiao's competition began in the round of 64, where she faced Linda Zaderova, advancing with a score of 3-1 (7-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-5). In the next round, she continued her path by beating Italian Nicole Arlia 3-1 (11-8, 11-6, 10-12, 11-6).
Xiao faced Andreea Dragoman in the round of 16, obtaining another 3-1 victory (7-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-9), while in the quarterfinals she beat Asuka Sasao 3-0 (11-6, 11-6, 11-8).
In the last two rounds, Xiao defeated Katarzyna Wegrzyn in the semifinals, 11-6, 11-9, 11-3, and won her first international individual title this Sunday against Lily Zhang in Italy.
