Massive crowds attend the Eagles-Chiefs-Chiefsper Bowl rematch.
The instant the 2023 NFL schedule was released, everyone around Philadelphia circled the specific game to put on their calendars. 11th week. Football on Monday Night at Arrowhead Stadium. Eagles and Chiefs rematch in Super Bowl LVII
Before the game, you couldn’t have created a more perfect script. With their records placing them at the top of the league and two MVP-caliber passers going up against each other, the Eagles and Chiefs are both going off bye weeks.
Joe Pompliano, a sports and business reporter, revealed that Monday night’s game drew an astounding 28.9 million viewers on average. At its peak, 31.2 million people watched.
It was not just the NFL season’s most watched game, but it also had the greatest rating for a Monday night game of football in 27 years.
And the Eagles undoubtedly desired to play this game, even though a victory in November won’t make the disappointment of loosing the Super Bowl go away.
It was an exciting one that was entertaining to watch through to the end. The Eagles defeated the Chiefs 21–17 for their first victory under Andy Reid.
Additionally, it was the first time in NFL history that Jason Kelce defeated his younger brother Travis.
Naturally, this isn’t the first report regarding Pat’s headgear. Cantlay made news a few months ago when it was alleged that he would not wear a hat during the Ryder Cup in protest of not getting paid to play in the global competition.
Cantlay refuted the allegations, stating that the reason he wasn’t wearing a helmet was because the team’s headgear didn’t fit him properly. There were an astounding 28.9 million viewers for the Super Bowl rematch.
With such ratings, it was certainly the most seen game of the year and the highest-rated Monday night football game for over 25 years.
The NFL must be enamored with these statistics from Week 11, since these two teams might very well face off in the Super Bowl once more.
Monday night’s Chiefs vs. Eagles game drew a huge crowd because it included the Kelce brothers and other Super Bowl contenders from previous season.
ESPN, ABC, and ESPN2 combined for an average of 28.9 million spectators as the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the home team 21–17.
According to Joe Pompliano, that total is more than the Monday night game in more than 25 years and the highest for any NFL game this season.
What’s even more amazing is that Travis Kelce’s girlfriend forced to cancel her show in Rio de Janeiro, so Taylor Swift’s absence wasn’t enough to stop her from attracting those numbers.
An average of 27 million people watched on NBC and Peacock when Swift attended the Chiefs’ victory over the Jets to East Rutherford, per a statement from the network at the time.
In the first half of Monday night’s game, the Philadelphia Eagles were not looking prepared for a Super Bowl repeat. It appeared as though they were experiencing a hangover from the Super Bowl.
They were dominated by both sides on the line of scrimmage. Their quarterback was having difficulty. It was their fortunate that the match was even close.
The second half, however, arrived, and as Jalen Hurts put it, “We came up when we mattered the most.”
They did, in fact. After the half, the reigning NFC champions drastically changed the course of the game, stepping up their offense and maintaining a perfect defensive record.
Indeed, they received a lot of assistance from the drop-prone receivers in Kansas City. However, it was all enough for them to overcome the Chiefs 21-17 at Arrowhead Stadium to win their Super Bowl LVII rematch.
“It wasn’t pretty,” Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni remarked. “It had a lot of unpleasant times. Whoa, they just continued to argue and remain together. The fact that everyone stuck together made it a terrific team victory.”
