Marcel Granollers advances to the doubles semis at the ATP Finals

The Spanish tennis player Marcel Granollers, together with the Argentine Horacio Zeballos, mathematically secured a place in the semifinals of the doubles table in the ATP Finals this Tuesday, thanks to his 6-4, 6-4 victory against the Croatian Ivan Dodig and the American Austin Krajicek.

On the hard court of the Pala Alpitour in Turin (Italy), Granollers and Zeballos tied the opening set after making good on a break of the rival’s service in the seventh game. Showing good harmony, the Spaniard and the Argentine took the lead in the second round with another early break.

Without problems on serve, Granollers and Zeballos took advantage of that advantage to secure another set and certify in less than an hour and a half their second victory during this ‘masters’ tournament, following the one obtained last Sunday against the Mexican Santiago González and the Frenchman Édouard Roger-Vasselin (2-6, 6-3 and 10-7).


Looking ahead to the third and final day of the Green Group, Granollers and Zeballos will face the also Argentinian Máximo González and Andrés Molteni next Thursday. There they will seek full victories and claim group leadership, as a prelude to the semifinals.
