Fernando Alonso: “The car is always on the knife’s edge of losing it”

MADRID, 29 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) acknowledged “quite a few complications” also this Saturday at the Mexican Grand Prix, where it was not a surprise that he fell behind after suffering in each session being “a little slow.”

“It has been difficult. We have been a little slow all the sessions so the time trial has not been a surprise to suffer and be left behind. Yesterday we spun in the high speed corners, today another. The car is always on a knife’s edge of losing it,” he said in statements to Dazn, reported by Europa Press.

“We have quite a few complications so we have to suffer to understand it and return to our best level which is not what we are showing now,” added Alonso who did not make it past Q2 and will start thirteenth.

On the other hand, the Asturian driver recalled that last week in Austin he started from the pit-lane and was close to finishing eighth. “It will be a difficult race, especially because of the traffic we will encounter and it is difficult to get close to the cars in front because we will all have problems with the temperatures. Always optimistic. We started from the pit in Austin and reached the points, tomorrow starting 13th hopefully easier,” he said.
