Carolina Marín firmly overcomes her debut at the French Open

MADRID, 25 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish badminton player Carolina Marín firmly defeated the Chinese Gao Fang Jie this Wednesday (21-7 and 21-13) in her debut at the French Open, a Super 750 category event taking place in Rennes, to advance without a doubt to the round of 16 of the tournament.

The Huelva native, sixth seed in the French Open, had a placid debut in Rennes, making her balance even more positive against the Chinese, against whom she has won the last six direct matches.

Marín started the first game with confidence and quickly took the lead to take the first big lead 6-0. A cushion that allowed him to link superiorities sufficiently loose to not suffer and take the initial set with five points in a row (21-7).

In the second game, an initial 6-0 also opened the way to victory for the three-time world champion, although Gao tried to get into the game with 10-7 on the scoreboard. However, it was just a mirage, because Marín gave him no options and ended the duel with a firm hand (21-13).

The Spaniard’s rival in the round of 16 in France will be the Indonesian Putri Kusuma Wardani, who benefited from the withdrawal of her opponent in the first round, in what will be an unprecedented duel.
